The "Realtor’s Super Bowl" & Hoops Hysteria: Things to Do in Xenia This Week (Jan 19–25)
The holiday season is officially in the rearview mirror, but if you think Xenia and the Miami Valley are hibernating for the winter, think again.
This week is a massive one for our community. We have one of the nation's premier high school basketball showcases happening right in our backyard, and my personal favorite the Greene County Home Show returns to the Expo Center.
For a local Realtor, the Home Show is basically the Super Bowl. It’s the perfect time to dream big about your property, whether you are looking to sell in 2026 or just finally tackle that master bath renovation.
Here is your curated guide to the best local events happening in Greene County and Dayton for the week of January 19 – January 25, 2026.
Monday, January 19: A Day of Legacy & Legends
MLK Day March & Youth Celebration
- Where: Downtown Dayton
- The Vibe: A powerful start to the week honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Expect a march filled with community spirit followed by youth-focused programming that celebrates the future of Dayton.
Flyin’ To The Hoop
- Where: James S. Trent Arena, Kettering
- The Vibe: If you love basketball, this is non-negotiable. This isn't just high school ball; it’s a showcase of future college and NBA stars. The energy in the Trent Arena is electric—grab a ticket and see why this event puts the Miami Valley on the national sports map.
Tuesday, January 20: Brainiacs & History Buffs
Trivia Night at TJ Chumps
- Where: TJ Chumps, Fairborn (7:00 PM – 10:00 PM)
- The Vibe: The perfect cure for the Tuesday blues. Round up your smartest friends (or just the ones who are fun to drink with), grab a burger, and test your knowledge. It’s low-stress competition with great food.
Speaker Series: Revolutionary War Soldiers
- Where: RecPlex West, Centerville (7:00 PM)
- The Vibe: Hosted by the Centerville-Washington History program, this is a fascinating deep dive into the local soldiers who shaped our nation. A great pick for history buffs who want to learn more about the roots of the Miami Valley.
Wednesday, January 21: Skating Season Isn't Over
Riverscape Ice Skating
- Where: RiverScape MetroPark, Downtown Dayton
- The Vibe: The holidays are over, but the ice is still cold. Take advantage of the lighter mid-week crowds. Skating under the pavilion with a view of the Great Miami River is one of those "only in Dayton" experiences you have to do at least once a winter.
Thursday, January 22: Target Practice
Wild Axe Throwing
- Where: Beavercreek (Open from 1:00 PM)
- The Vibe: Need to blow off some steam? Skip the gym and throw some axes instead. It’s surprisingly therapeutic and makes for a fantastic double date or group outing. Plus, it’s indoors, so the January chill won't bother you.
Friday, January 23: The Main Event
Greene County Home Show (Opening Day)
- Where: Greene County Expo Center, Xenia
- The Vibe: This is it! If you own a home, rent a home, or want to buy a home, you need to be here. From landscaping to roofing, this is where you find the trusted local pros. Pro Tip: Bring photos of the spaces you want to renovate so you can get specific advice from the vendors.
2nd Street Market
- Where: Downtown Dayton (11:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
- The Vibe: If you can sneak away for a long lunch, head to the market. It’s a European-style indoor market filled with local growers, bakers, and artisans. It’s the best spot to grab a fresh lunch and support small businesses.
Saturday, January 24: Art & Renovation Inspiration
Front Street Saturdays
- Where: Front Street Complex, Dayton (11:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
- The Vibe: Explore one of the largest communities of artists and artisans in the Midwest. The old industrial buildings are filled with studios, galleries, and boutiques. It’s gritty, cool, and incredibly inspiring.
Greene County Home Show (Day 2)
- Where: Greene County Expo Center, Xenia
- The Vibe: The Home Show continues all day. Saturday is usually the busiest day, so get there early to talk to the most popular contractors before their booths get crowded.
Sunday, January 25: The Thrill of the Hunt
Treasure Aisles Flea Market
- Where: Monroe, OH (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
- The Vibe: Whether you’re looking for vintage decor, tools, or just weird and wonderful items, Treasure Aisles is an adventure. It’s a great way to walk off brunch and find something unique for your home.
Adam's Take:
I’ll be spending a good chunk of my weekend at the Home Show. Keeping up with the latest trends in home maintenance and renovation is a huge part of my job. If you see me there, please stop and say hi! I’d love to hear what projects you are planning for 2026.
