SPOTLIGHT ON XENIA'S HOLIDAY ARTS
Applause! Celebrating the Holiday Arts and Performances of Xenia
Day 21: A Front Row Seat to Local Talent
Welcome back to the 25 Days of Xenia Christmas Countdown! For Day 21, we shine the spotlight on the incredible talent and dedication found right here in our local arts scene. The holiday season in Xenia is truly brought to life by our schools and community groups.
From the precise movements of the Xenia High School Jazz Band during their winter concert to the heartwarming productions at our local community theater, these performances are a source of great pride for the entire Greene County community.
We are incredibly lucky to have the Bob Hope Auditorium right here at the High School—a venue with a legacy as big as its namesake. Whether it's the Ensemble Choir filling the room with carols or the drama club's fall production, the talent that crosses that stage is top-tier.
And we can't talk about arts in Xenia without celebrating X*ACT (Xenia Area Community Theater) on East Second Street. They are the definition of "community spirit," putting on shows that bring neighbors together, often featuring that coworker or barista you see every day transforming into a star on stage.
The Value of Local Arts
Attending a performance at X*ACT or the High School is much more than a night out; it's an investment in the cultural future of Xenia:
- Youth Enrichment: Buying a ticket to an XHS show directly funds the costumes, sets, and instruments that keep arts education alive for our students.
- Stronger Community Bonds: There is something special about sitting in the dark at the Bob Hope Auditorium and cheering for your neighbor's kid. It creates deep, lasting ties that you just don't get at a megaplex movie theater.
- Authentic Local Entertainment: Places like X*ACT offer unique, intimate productions—often comedies or holiday classics—that define the Xenia experience.
How to Support the Arts This Week
- Check the Marquee: Look up the upcoming schedule for X*ACT (45 E. Second St). Even if a show isn't running tonight, buying a season ticket or a gift certificate for a 2026 show makes a perfect last-minute Christmas gift.
- Support the Boosters: Consider a donation to the Xenia High School Vocal or Instrumental Music Boosters. It’s a great year-end tax deduction that stays right here in the district.
Lifestyle Note: Access to robust arts programs like having an active community theater and a high-quality school auditorium is a major factor in the desirability of any community. Xenia’s dedication to supporting local talent contributes directly to the high quality of life and the attractiveness of our town to new residents.
